New - Support for 7.1.2

Posted: 15 December 2016

Version two of the O3A, O1A and Binaural Surround plugins introduces support for the 7.1.2 speaker layout typically used as a Dolby Atmos bed.

This means that the O3A plugins can be used to assemble detailed 3D beds that can make up part of a Dolby Atmos scene. To do this, you would record or create a 3D mix with the O3A plugins as usual and then use the "O3A Decoder - 7.1.2 (Dolby Atmos)" plugin from the O3A Decoding plugin library.

If you have a 7.1.2 bed that you want to process, for instance with the O3A Compressor plugin, or O3A Reverb - Shaped Convolution, you can upmix the 7.1.2 to O3A using the O3A Upmixer - 7.1.2 (Dolby Atmos) plugin, process it, and then decode it back.

Please note that the Dolby Atmos support here only relates to 7.1.2 beds (i.e. a "traditional" multichannel speaker feed typically used as a scene backdrop) and not Atmos' main audio object system.
